As the evenings start to draw in, the lane swimmers keep coming. I am really impressed by the standard of swimming I have seen at the evening sessions recently. It's not just the elite triathletes that frequent Wotton Pool, but a whole range of people, ploughing up and down, determinedly getting on with it, and having fun. We have had some very courageous youngsters who have become regulars at lane swimming, and they're so tiny, the 18 m to the other end must be so much more daunting than if you're approaching 6 feet tall. The underwater lighting system that was commissioned for last season will start coming in handy again soon, after a remarkably hot, sunny and even dry summer. The lights, I think, are a real treat, giving evening sessions that special iridescent quality. And as we have extended our summer season until the end of September, they will start being on much more often! Please note: from 15 September, our opening times will be: weekdays 18.30 - 20.00 (lanes); Saturdays 14.00 - 16.00; Sundays 10.00 - 12.00 (families) and 14.00 - 16.00.
