What a generous community!

The year so far is certainly going swimmingly for Wotton Swimming Pool Club. The good news of Kingswood Parish Council’s annual donation to the club, has been followed by more hard work and generous donations. Last Friday saw the Wotton Amateur Dramatics Society perform Sleeping Beauty to a packed and jolly audience. The Pantomime is a real treat for the fans every year, and is enjoyed by many punters of all ages. This year however, the Amateur Dramatics Society had an extra treat waiting in the wings for the Swimming Pool Club: the money received from Friday night’s ticket sales have been gifted to Wotton Swimming Pool.  Here at WSPCHQ, we are delighted with the financial and moral support from the Dramatics Society, and the show itself was a fantastic night out. Another event to be aware of is the sponsored Pianoathon coming up this Sunday (16 Jan). Katie Elliott will be playing the piano for 12 hours at the Wotton Arts Centre – quite an exercise in stamina! She will be playing all kinds of music, any special requests, and jamming with loads of different people of different ages. It sounds like it will be a musical triumph, so do come along to watch and listen, and maybe even dance! There will be a bar running with tea and cakes throughout the twelve hours, if you need to refuel during the music. Thanks for your hard work Katie, I hope you’re fingers are prepared! The entertainment options in Wotton are certainly varied and unusual in this damp and dreary time of year! I wonder if Katie will play me “Minnow, the Moocher”.. Miss Minnow
